Leominster Repair Cafe
This is what we do
Repair Cafes are intended to reduce waste by encouraging people to repair items instead of throwing them away. The model is simple, take along your malfunctioning electricals, fraying textiles or broken homewares and skilled volunteers will attempt to fix them for free. Since early 2010 community based repair events have sprung up around the U.K. There are now some 300 Repair Cafes in Britain.
Repair cafes are open to everyone and there are economic, social and environmental advantages to being involved. Economically you will be saving money by extending the life of your item. socially the interaction between the repairer and the person bringing the item for repair is positive. Environmentally, repairing items reduces waste, pollution and the overuse of finite materials to make new products.
We are not in competion with existing services we merely wish to reduce the amount of items that end up in landfill.
As the name suggests the Repair Café does have a café where you can purchase tea, coffee and snacks for a nominal price. There is a plant stall in the cafe area where you buy or exchange plants.
At Leominster we operate monthly on first Saturday of the month between 10.00 and 12.00.
As of February 2024 we are able to offer limited online booking of your item. However you can still drop in with your repair between 10 and 12.
We don’t charge for repairs but donations are very welcome to help us cover our costs.
If you would like to get involved, either as a repairer, front of house or in the café please call in when we are next open to find out more or contact us by email.
We would like to thank Leominster Community Centre for the use of their facilities.
Our thanks also goes to Herefordshire Council who have provided initial funding.
